Brian L. Comstock graduated from the University of Washington magna cum laude with top honors in political science and election to Phi Beta Kappa. Following a two-year tour of duty as an officer in the U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence Corps, Brian attended Harvard Law obtaining his law degree in 1959. He has practiced law in Seattle continuously since then, becoming a senior partner and managing partner of the law firm of Roberts & Shefelman which merged in 1987 to become Foster Pepper & Shefelman. In 1990, Brian joined Short Cressman & Burgess as a partner and chair of the firm’s business practice group. Retiring as a partner of that firm in 2003, Brian was appointed Adjunct Professor at Seattle University School of Law and also Albers School of Business and Finance. At the law school, he put together a new course and wrote a new textbook entitled Advising Private Companies. Brian has been active in professional organizations and pursuits including the business, securities and tax sections of the American Bar Association and Washington State Bar Association, and he has served as a Trustee of the Seattle-King County Bar Association. He is a member of Seattle Rotary and a Board member of Northwest Center and the South Seattle Community College Foundation.
 

Brian’s practice has over the years has emphasized business. His areas of extensive experience include corporate law, business planning, assisting with financings and securities compliance, federal, state and local taxation including several appeals to the Washington State Supreme Court, advising businesses in distress and handling workouts, real estate and commercial transactions, and sales and dispositions of businesses.
